Student Requirements
Below, are a list of requirementÂ’s geared towards keeping a consistent and safe dojo.
- Pay your tuition on time. Each student is responsible for attending a minimum of 1 to 2 classes per week. Payments must be made even if you do not attend class.
- Each student the rank of Green Belt and above is required to help support the WMKA once a year.
- All students are required to maintain a clean uniform. The sleeves and pant legs should be rolled or hemmed if uniform is too long. A plain white t-shirt should be wore underneath the gi top. During the months of May – September, a dojo t-shirt may be worn to class instead of a gi top. (This applies to kyu rank only, Black belts must wear gi top to all classes)
- Each student should be able to tie his or her own belt (except Little Ninjas)
- Be on time to class. Late arrivals may attend class but no credit will be issued
- All students need to purchase a set of white hand pads. Children under the age of 16 are required to wear a white headgear.
- All students are required to purchase the student handbook and it is recommend that you purchase a copy of "The Essence of Okinawan Karate-Do" book by Shoshin Nagamine
- No chewing gum or food on the deck
- No shoes on the deck
- Please keep talking in the lobby to a whisper.
- Please do not cross the floor during a class. There is a back door that may be used to use the restrooms and changing rooms
- Be sure to bow properly before entering or leaving the deck and to all higher rank on the deck. It is a sign of courtesy
- If a clinic or event is being held at the dojo, please do your best to attend our functions. We need your support.
- Please help to keep the dojo clean by placing trash in the containers provided.
